CONJUNCTIVITIS

An inflammation or infection of the membrane (conjunctiva) that covers the eye and lines the inner surface of the eyelid. It can be caused by a bacterial infection (often contagious), allergy (itching and burning), or chemical contact (red and painful). Children often get contagious "pink eye" from playmates.
    * Consult your health care provider. Antibiotic eye drops may be prescribed for bacterial conjunctivitis. To prevent the spread of the infection to other people in the household, do not touch your hands to the infected eye. Wash hands frequently with Antibacterial Liquid Soap. Take ProVex and/or ProVex-Plus daily.
A child with conjunctivitis will have to be kept away from school for a few days to prevent the spread of infection to other children in school.
NOTE: Do not put any Melaleuca products directly on the eye. Use only products that are certified ophthalmologic grade.
