ZONA

Zona is also called shingles and is the same virus as chicken pox--herpes zoster. This virus affects the sensory nerves, and causes clusters of blisters to appear, often in the form of a band around the torso. The condition can be accompanied by severe pain, usually before the rash appears, and there may be fever. See the sections on Shingles and Chicken Pox in this book .
*Wash the affected area with Antibacterial Liquid Soap. Pat dry and liberally apply T36-C5 or T40-C3. (T40-C3 is a rarer form of Melaleuca oil and is sometimes less offensive.) Allow the oil sufficient time to soak into the skin. After the rash has fully developed, usually within 2 or 3 days, soak in 1 oz of Sol-U-Mel and 1 oz of Renew Bath Oil in a tub of warm water for 15 minutes to help with the itching. After soaking, pat dry and reapply the T36-C5. When the oil has started to be absorbed into the skin or is drying, apply either MelaGel or Renew Intensive Skin Therapy. Repeat the process several times a day. Drinking one to four cups of Melaleuca Herbal Tea each day may also be helpful.
