DIAPER RASH

Diaper rash is caused by friction and irritation in the presence of moisture. It is a common skin irritation affecting babies, who have otherwise healthy skin. It triggers yeast to grow. This occurs naturally when wet diapers are not changed promptly. Babies will vary in their susceptibility to developing diaper rash. Keeping the skin as dry as possible is one of the best methods of prevention. Hospital nurseries often harbor resistant strains of these organisms, and you may bring them home in your new bundle of joy. Elderly or incontinent adults must also be aware of this challenge.

    * Proper laundering of all baby clothing as well as diapers in MelaPower Laundry Detergent enriched with 1 capful of Sol-U-Mel and 1 to 2 tsp of MelaBrite, will ensure that both colors and whites will be bright and clean-smelling.
Antibacterial Liquid Soap or The Gold Bar should be used to bathe your baby. After towel drying, allow the skin to air dry (in direct sunlight if possible) for a few minutes. Apply Renew Intensive Skin Therapy or Moisturizing Hand Creme to form a natural moisture barrier on the skin before diapering.
NOTE: Sol-U-Mel should not be used in a baby's bath water as the green soap in it may irritate sensitive skin (newborns lack active sweat glands).
